An Unforgettable Morning - Go as Early as Possible!

点评：We had a fantastic half-day experience at Pearl Harbor and highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Oahu. Reserving our USS Arizona tickets online beforehand was incredibly convenient. We did see a lot of stand-by passengers get on the boat, though, so if you don't have reservations you aren't totally out of luck. We made the decision to take the very first boat out, and it was the right call. Not only did we beat the intense afternoon heat, but the entire grounds were peaceful and uncrowded while we waited. Plus, arriving early meant we were able to park right up front near the entrance!
After returning from the USS Arizona memorial, we toured the USS Bowfin Submarine. It is an extra fee but my 8 year old loved this part of the tour. Because it was still so early, we only saw one other person inside and basically had the submarine to ourselves, which was amazing.
Next, we took the shuttle over to the USS Missouri. It was a bit busier by then, but still completely manageable. We spent about an hour exploring, and my husband and son absolutely loved checking out the massive battleship. We didn't do the guided tour (limited on time) and instead just quickly walked around on our own. We finished our tour by riding the shuttle back to the main museum, which was incredibly well-done and moving. Our only minor complaint was the cafe. The line moved very slowly, they were experiencing issues with their credit card machine, and they were already out of several items (like the fruit cups). Also, there was no seating available to sit and eat.
Skip the cafe if you can, but do not skip this tour! Overall, it was a wonderful, seamless experience. It is a vital piece of history that everyone should experience at least once.
