Staff would not accept four $1’s and four quarters for a $5 parking fee.

点评：I tried going here on a cloudy day and upon pulling into the parking lot the young lady told me it was a $5 charge to park. I expected that. I tried giving her four $1’s and four quarters. When she saw me looking for change she said, “Ugh can you just use the card machine?”
I assumed she thought I didn’t have enough money so I said, “No it’s okay I have quarters,” and then she rudely asked me again to use the card machine. Confused, but not going to argue, I pulled up to the card machine and it had a sign that said it was a flat charge of $15. I asked the girl why the machine was going to charge me $15 even though I literally had $5 to give to them. I got a lame excuse from some guy, who was obnoxiously taking a loud phone call when I arrived, that they couldn’t change the amount charged on the card machine. Which was totally fine, I understood that part and wasn’t going to argue.
The guy in his car behind me, also trying to go to the beach, exclaimed that he only had a $50 bill, and was reassured that they could break it. Yet they wouldn’t take my four $1’s and four quarters? I was genuinely shocked. I really did not want to pay more money to visit the beach on a cloudy day when I had lots of other beach options.. so I left. I also work in customer service and have never asked a customer to use a specific payment method when the fees are unequal..
I write this review in hopes that the attitude shown towards me is not a common occurrence between beachgoers + staff at this beach. I’ll be visiting other beaches in Maine and I encourage others to do the same.
