Disappointing dinner experience

点评：We booked the dinner at 80 euros per person and a hefty taxi ride from Cannigone, thinking it would be the highlight of our trip. The menu looked amazing and we were so looking forward to trying all the lovely wines.
The building is grand and airy, we were led to our table and left to our own devices for a bit - the grounds were lovely so they could have suggested a walk to see our surroundings. We weren’t offered an aperitif- I guess it wasn’t on the menu, but it summed up the atmosphere of this place where you get exactly what you paid for no more and no less.
Our dinner table was spacious, but we were in a big hall surrounded by a long bench of people doing the wine tasting which spoiled the atmosphere somewhat.
Our waitress was lovely, sadly her English wasn’t great but she was very enthusiastic. We had hoped to get a little explanation about the vineyard and it’s history but we didn’t.Our first two courses were good, but the wine portions were very small and we weren’t asked if we wanted more. Husband and son did ask for more of the red and this was grudgingly given, but the alleged fillet steak accompanying it didn’t taste great at all. Dessert was pretty basic too.
Overall it felt a bit soulless and corporate, I was so disappointed as I had been looking forward to the experience . An offer of a top up of the wines would have gone a long way to make the evening more convivial. The wines were good, so I would recommend either buying a few bottles or the wine tasting may have provided more information and be better value for money.
