点评：We disembarked the Island Princess ship in Whittier, Alaska, and boarded the Denali Express train. The transition from ship to train was actually smooth and seamless. We did have to leave all our luggage outside our ship cabin the night before.
Just know in advance, the train ride up to the drop off near Denali National Park is about 10 HOURS. Yes, 10 hours. In all honesty, it could be sped up to about 8 hours without losing any of the overall experience. That length of time did get a bit long, but you can get up and move around as you wish, so it was not that bad.
Obviously, the point of the Denali train is to take in the natural scenery as the cars are primarily glass for just that purpose. The scenery did not disappoint. Very nice overall. Each train car had a guide that pointed out items of interest along the way, and a bar. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks were available as well. The lunch was pretty good.
This was our first official train ride of any length, and it was probably a bit less than expected. A good experience overall, but just seemed to be lacking something…. According to the on board guide, Princess and Holland America own the train cars and they contract out the on board services.
