Amazing Museum. Hidden gem in a small town

We are world travelers and spend most of our vacations visiting local museums and were delightfully surprised with the Natural History & Art Museum. The Trip Advisor site shows a 1-2 hour visit…we stayed for 4 hours!!!
Upon arrival we were met by life sized prehistoric animals that initially looked funky until we realized they were a big hit and educational for children. We enjoyed walking the grounds, but the impact of this venue is inside with a WOW FACTOR more than 5 stars. It is important to read about Mr. & Mrs. Juan Carlos Infante to understand how they collected these precious items and appreciate their generosity
in donating them to the museum.
We have seen many taxidermies and found the animals were exquisitely
produced and maintained. The dioramas were fabulous and we felt like we were in the actual habitat of the animals. I am an animal advocate, not a fan of hunting but museums like this are important for those that will not have the opportunity to get close to these amazing animals. The way they are presented allowed us to see every detail in a natural way. Kiosks and signs provide details about the animals.
My favorite part of the museum was the New Spain Art Hall. There is a vast collection of paintings, sculptures, pottery, silver, scaled down replica of a Spanish Galleon, way too many items to list in this already too long of a review. Bottom line… a must visit museum with exceptionally helpful staff too.
