Rude staff, beautiful gardens, nice food
Rockingham Castle的点评
点评：Well it wasn’t a very good first impression to be perfectly honest.
The queue to drive up to the car parking area was absolutely horrendous as they only had one gate open rather than the two that were there.
The lady taking the money was extremely rude which after an almost two hour drive and then a 35 minute queue time did not sit well with me.
The man who directed us to our parking spot was really friendly and extremely helpful.
Now I understand that the castle is a private residence and that due to this only certain areas were allowed to be explored but I felt that it took the nostalgic and authentic feel of the history away by having recent family photographs absolutely everywhere which were clearly of the family residing there at the moment.
We also were told that the only reason the family have the castle open to the public is so that the family can receive grants that they need which I felt really wasn’t something that should be shared.
The gardens were absolutely stunning snd very well kept.
You can tell that a lot of work and passion is put into the gardens.
The cafe was not the best….
The staff appeared to be totally overwhelmed and really struggling as the system that they have to go with just wasn’t working well.
They appeared to be getting confused and stressed.
They were all very friendly and appeared to be trying really hard but struggling.
On the menu it clearly states you can have cake to go in a box so I thought that I’d purchase some cake for myself and my fiancée to have later.
I was told there were no boxes so had to have the cake in silver foil instead.
The church is in DESPERATE need of some work. It smelt damp and looked damp inside with insects flying about (wasps and huge flies).
I would not really recommend this place unfortunately.
The only reason I’ve given the star that I have is because the gardens were so beautiful, the food was really nice and fresh and that really friendly man showing us where to park.

菜单上清楚地写着蛋糕可以装在盒子里，所以我想买一些蛋糕给我自己和未婚妻待会儿吃。
我被告知没有盒子，所以只好用银箔纸包着蛋糕。
教堂急需整修。里面闻起来很潮湿，看起来也很潮湿，到处都是昆虫（黄蜂和大苍蝇）。
很遗憾，我不会推荐这个地方。
我给这颗星的唯一原因是花园太美了，食物非常美味新鲜，还有那位非常友好的男士告诉我们停车的地方。
