Betts Guide Service & Outfitter的点评
点评：Angler be aware. Myself, my wife and son scheduled a (full) three day fishing trip with Chad Betts in November 2023. I have never written a poor review or asked for a refund for a service in my life. I did give Chad an opportunity to make good on his poor services he provided.
1. Showing up a half hour late on the first day was not a good start.
2. Unprofessional, insulting and abrasive character: Scolded family members for not using bait caster reel correctly, talking down to us and/or lack of patience. Snide remarks and unprofessional tone did not favor well with us at all.
4. I looked for another guide after our second planned full day of fishing ended at 11:00 by Betts and missed opportunity for steelhead fishing in the afternoon. I am reluctant to go into details here due to privacy.
5. I Contacted four other guide services the same day and unfortunately were all booked. Comment from guide when I asked if he knew Chad Betts in Newago:
"Yes, but don't associate with him in any manner". The feedback I received from other guides in Newago was consistent.
6. Other shady business: When I requested a partial refund, Chad Betts now stated it was not his business any longer and referred me to another person/guide to handle matter who was supposedly the actual owner. Ultimately, there was not a resolve. There is a disparity as to who actually own's, or who will own "Betts fishing and guide service". Another red flag here.
7. I was offered a day and a half fishing trip upon return to Michigan from the supposedly new owner. I declined: Fool me once; shame on you...
8. Overall bad experience with Chad Betts as a person and unprofessional fishing guide. We did catch fish, however, just not someone I would fish with again.
9. "Ethical" fishing is all about the "experience" and the "opportunity" to catch fish. "Ethically" catching trout, or a 30" steelhead is the bonus. It is called fishing, not catching. Not catching fish is not a basis of having a bad experience. Chad Betts missed the mark largely due to his unprofessionalism and abrasive behavior. Our family made the best of the situation. Newago, Michigan is a great fishing destination and we plan on a return: Just not with Chad Betts, Betts Guide service, or anyone associated with Chad Betts.
