Great experience even if we only saw one bear....

点评：We chartered an independent flight to Pack Creek with Ward Air and purchased our permits online from the park service. The Information for both were available on the Park Service website linked to the description here.
The pilot flew us to the drop off point, where we exited the float plane and waded ashore - about 25ft in shallow water (below knee depth) - easy walking across stones. I just unzipped the lower half of my hiking pants and went in water shoes. Ashore I zipped the legs back on, dried my feet and put on socks & hikers. Good thing too as there were a few mossies (not bad but who wants to get bit?). We got a brief from the state ranger, stood around chatting with her, cached out stuff in the bear safe, and headed out for the observation tower following her direction.
The trail crossed the beach and a small stream before entering the woods. It required climbing some slippery areas, so not suitable for mobility challenged.
The forest was very cool - pure, quiet, fresh smells, peaceful.
Returning to the beach we then went to the 2nd viewing area along the shoreline. There we sat on some large felled trees and hung out with the second ranger for several hours. There was a family with young children already there. They left and were replaced by a guided group whom we’d seen in the Ward Air terminal. They were dropped off somewhere else and had kayaked before coming to Pack Creek. They had an excellent guide, who kindly included us in her commentary.
Eventually we saw 1 bear who we watched via binoculars and spotting scope. The ranger said when he got there in the morning (about 9) he saw several bears but they were probably sleeping as the previous nights tides had been low and there was
