This is a Great Stop For Any Dan Fogelberg Fan, BUT...........

点评：I am not going to say I was a Dan Fogelberg fan. I HAVE been a fan for many years, always have, always will, and to the best of my knowledge, I have ALL of his albums! What an incredibly gifted and talented musician this guy was! In my opinion, songwriting was his strong suit. His song, "A Love Like This" from his "River of Souls" album was played at our wedding when my wife and I got married EXACTLY one year before Dan passed away in December 2007 (we are now both 66, and the 2nd marriage for both of us). We live in Sioux Falls, SD, and being able to visit Dan's memorial in Peoria, IL has been a high priority item on my bucket list for many years. In September 2022, my wish came true as my wife and I traveled through Peoria on our way to Dayton, OH for a wedding.
Finding the location of Dan's memorial at Riverfront Park on the Illinois River close to downtown Peoria just off of Interstate 74 was not all that difficult to find. Yes, the Riverfront park is lovely and so is the view across the river. But once we pulled into the parking lot is where our difficulties really began. First of all, we were the ONLY vehicle in the parking lot at the moment which we thought was rather strange. However, there was absolutely NO signage anywhere to be found that would point the way to Dan's memorial, or to a bathroom (which I badly needed at the moment!) nearby. I walked over to a nearby warehouse where three men were on the loading dock for some helpful directions. I asked them #1) where exactly Dan's memorial was located in the park, and #2) where a bathroom could be found nearby. None of these three guys had a clue how to answer either question, or had ever even heard of Dan Fogelberg (WHAT????)!!!! So my wife and I were basically left on my own to figure things out for ourselves. UFFDA!!! Once we got to walking toward the river, we saw the three boulders come into view that I recognized from watching a youtube video. The one big problem in getting there was that we had to walk across this large yard that also had several dozen geese present and walking all over the place. That meant with our walking across this yard that the chances of us stepping on goose droppings all over the place were 100% (yuck). A concrete trail running DIRECTLY to the memorial would have really been helpful and more sanitary, and in my humble opinion, is badly needed in addition to some helpful signage to point the way to the memorial and to bathroom. Otherwise, for any Dan Fogelberg fan, this place is well worth the stop. But one must be aware of some serious deficiencies!
P.S. I did eventually find my own bathroom to relieve myself: in the trees off the paved trail that runs right past Dan's memorial. Hey, when you gotta go, you gotta go! At least I can say I left something behind.
