A carefully curated museum, well worth visiting
Laingsburg Flood Museum的点评
点评:This museum is compact yet full of exhibits and information about the awful flood that devastated the town in 1981. With so many lives lost, they document the names and what ever history there is about these people lost to the flood and in so doing keep these people’s memories and names alive. Certain architectural details worth seeing are things such as the line in the entrance area marking the height of the flood waters at their peak, and also that the grills/bars on the windows of the museum and other buildings in the complex are made from materials salvaged from the silt and mud, in so doing turning something ugly and terrible into something beautiful.
There is an Irish saying that “people don’t die if they live on the lips of the living” and this venue keeps those names alive.

爱尔兰有句俗话:“如果人们只活在生者的嘴上,他们就不会死”,而这个场所让这些名字永垂不朽。
