Exceptional historic gateway.
De Westerpoort of Koepoort uit 1654的点评
点评：We were fortunate enough to not only be stay at the Hotel de Koepoort, but having a wonderful view of De Westernpoort (Koepoort), although the regular and full chimes throughout the night, with a single bell on the half hour, was a bit of a distraction.
The building dates from 1654, and as easily seen it was the western entrance city ate, to Enkhuizen. Together with the moat, and its seven bastions the Koepoort formed a significant part of the city wall.
Road traffic has been rerouted around either side of the previously fortified gateway, but the rebuild in 1730 gave the building its charming exterior and the cupola. It is very picturesque, particularly with the very mature trees and the bastion. Seen from De Garden, the port really is visually something special.
A lovely quiet area and a beautiful introduction to this lovely very special city.
