I had a very concerning experience with this store and manager when visiting Bermuda. I was looking at some jewelry, and before even confirming I was open to purchasing, the manager offered to “put it on his credit card” so I didn’t have to use mine. I’ve never heard of anyone doing this before, and I immediately declined. It felt icky, and I also never indicated that I needed help with my finances, which I don’t.
At one point, I considered purchasing a ring, which I opted to put on my own credit card, but I had my low balance card with me, and the purchase would have put me over my limit. Thank goodness this happened because when I had to call my credit card company to make sure there weren’t any other fraudulent transactions on it, the manager told me I could use his phone. I looked at him and coldly said, “no.”
As we all know, our phone numbers are connected to our cards, so I got the feeling he was trying to get more personal financial information from me, and after I confirmed that my account was safe, we left immediately.
The manager does not have a credit card that he is able to offer you; he has a credit line through the company that he disguises as a personal credit card, which is all illegal. This is a very sus company. Do your research before walking in there.
