点评:We had booked an excursion with Vacations to Go but it was cancelled for no reason. We did not make alternative plans and decided to check it out upon arrival. Our cruise ship arrived 4 hours earlier than scheduled due to an oncoming storm so no one was going on a scheduled excursion for the next four hours.
We decided to ask around to see what the costs were to get to the glacier. We were first quoted $125/person by one of the booths at the port. That seemed like a lot so we asked one of the taxi drivers and he said he could take all four of us there for $60 one way. He dropped us off 100 meters before the park entrance because he would get charged $15 for each of us if he dropped us off in the park. Not sure what kind of rule that is but he had it posted in his taxi. We asked him to pick us up in two hours. He told us he would pick us up at the Porcupine Stop. There’s several different pick up/drop off areas named after animals.
We went into the visitor centre and paid $5/each for the park. There was no one to check if we paid or not so if you didn’t go into the visitor centre, you could have just gone into the park for free. Today was the last day the visitor centre was open so maybe it was a bit more lax?
There were only about 6 other people at Nugget Falls when we arrived. It was amazing!
The glacier was beautiful too but it was sad to see how much it has receded.
