点评:I have hiked the trails of the Treadwell multiple times a week for over 20 years. I live in Juneau! The trails and Sandy Beach, a huge sandy (mine tailings) expanse seaward of the trails, are excellent for hiking!
So why did I give only one star rating? Because of the 18 interpretive signs, NOT ONE of them mention the mines were on unceded Native Alaskan's land. Many local Indigenous people worked the mines 363 days a year. Other than their meager wage, they NEVER received royalties from all the gold removed from THEIR land. The interpretive signs were written and installed by white men, and the signs are misleading and highly inaccurate. Did the white wives of the mine managers really share tea time with Native Tlingit women in the 1920's? Did the Native mine workers enjoy a set of tennis after working all day long? I doubt it!
