点评：The Azores are full of unexpected delight, but the Caldeira das Furnas also offers a glimpse of history into our geologic past, the island's culture and how eco-logically centered thinking can vastly improve an experience.
For a modest fee, I think it was 5 Euro, you are in the park. The parking lot is crowded, but seems to always have someone leaving as you're arriving, so be patient if you're stuck without a spot.
The Caldeiras are really interesting and you can get up close to them. Be prepared for the smell, though, as these venting some pretty noxious fumes when you're 5-10 meters away from them. Snap a few photos of the natural ovens set by local families and restaurateurs for the most famous meal on the island (available at the restaurant that's on-site at the Caldeira or down in Furnas).
Beautiful views of Lake Furnas are in view from the patio of the restaurant or you can stroll over to the ice cream truck and grab something sweet, a coffee, tea or beer to help elevate the winsome sights.
This site used to be a private residence, then fell into disuse and was a town dump for a while before ecologically-minded locals stepped in to restore the area to it's natural wonder and invite tourists to take it all in. There's also a hiking trail and waterfalls behind the Caldeiras where you can pay to get deeper into the forest.
