Marie Selby Botanical Gardens的点评
点评：Sometimes efforts to improve a destination have the opposite effect. Such is the case with Selby Gardens. The rearrangement of displays is confusing and disorienting. Before we paid our hefty admission in exchange for very little value, we were told “The Conservatory is closed during Phase 2 renovations.” This information meant little to me. Not until I looked for the incredible orchid house (the sole reason my photographer-friend came from out of state) did we learn that “conservatory” was code for “orchid displays.”
Without the orchids, Selby Gardens is not worth a visit. Nothing there is more remarkable than the plants in my own average Florida backyard.
If you want someplace much, much more interesting and fun than Selby Gardens, go a few miles north on the Tamiami Trail and treat yourself to Jungle Gardens. You will find the same plants, but Jungle Gardens will wow you with a huge population of colorful birds and reptiles and a petting zoo. Kids and adults will love it.
