点评：We loved hiking up in this region. The colors are spectacular. The topography is beautiful. But, know what you are getting into and be prepared. The drive is is over approximately 35km of unpaved road. In addition to dirt, mud, wholes, you will cross hard, rough gravel. Four Wheel Drive and sufficient clearance is a must. Reserve your parking space before you go - there is limited parking. If you want to cross the river to park closer to the site, larger tires and a snorkel for the engine are a must (But you do NOT need to cross the river in your car, there is a short walking bridge and the walk is not bad. For those who regularly hike mountains, there is a great deal to explore.
Word of Caution: Stay on marked trails and be mindful of her footing. Just off of some of the trails are vents with extreme heat. We also found that in the rain, there were places where dirt washed out between lava, leaving deep wholes.
Whether this would be appropriate for a family would depend on the stamina and maturity of the young hikers.
