点评:I think a lot of people are being very unfair to this attraction, its not Disneyland, its not meant to be, it is what is, an observatory set within a very small castle structure which has done the most it can with what it has. Its not pertaining to be a history of Cork harbour fortifications albeit that there is a little of that and the observatory is as sympathetic as it can be in that direction.
It's true there are a lot of written materials displayed on the walls and some viewing screen that provide significant astronomical information to the viewer, hence the location and structure is the attraction rather than the observatory itself for the younger visitor.
We visited beautiful day and I thought the € 9 per adult & €5 per child was money well spent, children will love the stairs to the tower observatory and the basement / dungeon. The harbour views from the viewing decks are superb.
There is also a stunning photography exhibition by Cian O' Regan
You can enjoy the castle grounds free of charge should you wish and enjoy a coffee and more from the onsite café or walk the attractive harbour side public walkway.
