Remarkable and extraordinary tribute to great Abstract Expressionist artists!
Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center的点评
点评：Never been out to Long Island before, but on this roadtrip, as we would be driving into Manhattan, we decided that we had to visit the Pollock-Krasner House & Studio. And we got in just under the wire as October 31 was the last day for tours this year. Despite a long drive out to East Hampton, we were early for our 2pm guided tour. We wandered about the grounds to take outdoor photos, and then checked in at the Museum Store. Our tour began in the House, where Jackson and Lee lived and worked. Docent James W sat our group of 8 in the circle of chairs and shared the story of Jackson and Lee and how they bought a rundown farmhouse with a barn and made it a home and studio. Lee lived there until her death in 1984, so it is essentially her home that we see. Totally interesting story!! Then we toured the house, both floors. Nice to see the light and the view from the 2nd story. Then we walked over to the barn, which once it was moved to its current site, served as Jackson's studio where he made his drip paintings for a number of years. After his death in 1955, Lee fixed it up, covering the floor, and made it her studio. Upon her death, as the site was being spruced up for visitors, the paint-splattered floor was uncovered. And now fans of Jackson and Lee come to remember them and their art! It really is remarkable to know that they walked on this floor...that Jackson painted on this floor and she painted canvases on the walls. Some of the most extraordinary art was made here!
