A beautiful cemetery!
Frankfort Cemetery的点评
点评：The final resting place of Daniel Boone, our road trip brought us to this cemetery. Lots of notable people buried within, and we found a few.
Daniel Boone‘s grave is probably the best one in the cemetery by far. We were led by plaques to the area where his memorial is. A chain pathway leads you down to his sculpture that bears he and his wife’s name. It overlooks the city of Frankfurt and the river. A beautiful view! Different scenes have been carved on all four sides of the sculpture, and lots of greenery has been planted in the shady area around it. It is a very serene place….
Just across the way, was the grave of Paul Sawyier, a local Kentucky artist who has made some absolutely lovely works of landscape art with oil on canvas.
One of the most impressive areas we saw was the Kentucky Memorial for the Unborn. A sculpture of a mother alongside a wall of names of those they were born into heaven. Along the backside was the Kentucky Memorial rock Garden. Anybody is allowed to take an unpainted rock and turn it into something beautiful to bring back to the rock garden to display. there were so many wonderful painted rocks.
We also saw some amazing veteran memorials. A lot of them were larger than life, which each of these soldiers deserved.
I would definitely recommend a stop here to check out these graves and maybe find some others!
