点评:Stopped on the way from Nottingham to Devon. Easy to find off the M5. Car park big, but on a slope. PortaLoos are the toilets. Maybe they are building a new ablution block. Nevertheless, the temporary cubicles are clear, although the ladies' cubicles are definitely not suitable for larger hip ladies.
You enter by a smallish Visitors centre, with a small gift shop. Think we paid about £ 21.00 for two, including Gift Aid. Given a free map. Right next to the ticket office is a cafe and a separate hot drinks outlet. We had two large lattes, and it was cold and overcast. Service was a bit slow, a young lad battling away by himself. Eventually, help arrived.
Started our walk around the Gardens. But I thought we had better see what time the cafe shut, it was early. Either 2 or 3. The food was excellent, and it was all served in sustainable packaging. We sat inside the big Teepee. It was windy and rain threatening.
We then went to explore the gardens. Which are set on the side of a hill, hence very steep in places. Not very big, you could probably get around easily in under 90 minutes. Large vegetable garden and a couple of ponds. Apparently, the Snowdrops are a must. Enjoyable visit, hope to return on a sunny day.
