Absolutely worth it - especially if you book with Abdul!
拉卜湾长鼻猴保护区的点评
点评：Abdul is an absolute gent. We told him everything we wanted to see and he created a perfect itinerary, including a great recommendation for a lunch stop.
Seeing the proboscis monkeys was definitely the highlight of the day. Abdul wasn’t only our driver, he was our tour guide! He knew what time the feedings were, he gave us a useful tip to buy the tickets online in advance. He helped with our bags, stopped at supermarkets for water, and with everything we did, he stepped aside to let us take it in, and said ‘take your time’.
We got lucky because there was a monkey close by to us before the feeding even took place.
Then when it was feeding time loads showed up, including some babies, and there was also lots of silver leaf monkeys. Two of them were play fighting which was very entertaining!
It’s quite special seeing these monkeys knowing this is the only place to see them. They are funny looking but still cute in their own way!
I think it’s best to do two days in Sandakan - trying to cram this and the orangutans into one day would be quite intense. It’s very hot and the road is quite slow and rocky to get to the sanctuary, which in itself is quite far out of town. We spent around 1.5-2 hours there, you can also chill at the cafe if you need a break.
But yes, if you’re a couple, or solo traveller, I highly recommend Abdul, he just made the day even better and more relaxed, he is a good, safe, driver and his pricing is very reasonable. He also leant us binoculars which are very handy around here in general, I wish I brought my own!

不过，如果你是情侣或独自旅行，我极力推荐阿卜杜尔。他让这一天变得更加愉快和轻松，他为人可靠且安全。这位司机的收费非常合理。他还借给我们望远镜，在这儿真的派上大用场了，真希望我带了自己的望远镜！
