点评:This shared path now extends for 16 klms from Adamstown to Belmont on what used to be an old railway line that opened in the 1890's but was shut down in 1991.
This track has been constructed and opened in sections from 2003 to 2011.
We parked in the car park at Adamstown which is approximately 100 metres from the start of the track. Two of us were on bikes whilst two walked.
The first section was a lovely slightly uphill walk to and through the curved former railway tunnel, that is about 181 metres long. Along the way we passed an old railway station and some very pleasant bushland. We turned around just after exiting the tunnel having walked about 2.5 klms and headed back. Our friends on bikes passed us at about the half way mark.
It would be fair to say that the majority of bike riders hurtled by and did not use a bell on approach. At times it was a little nerve wracking when you could see a bunch of cyclists approaching from the front and you turned around to see others flying straight at you, expecting you to get off the path as there was no room for everyone to pass.
The Code of Conduct states "When cycling, ring bell on approach of other users and travel at a safe speed". What's a bell?
