We had an absolutely amazing experience with the Alaska Railroad and their tour services. From the very beginning, the customer service stood out — we live in Florida and spent close to two hours on the phone customizing our trip. The staff was patient, knowledgeable, and eager to help us create the perfect itinerary.
We chose to upgrade to Gold Star Class, and it was worth every penny. Meals on the train were included, along with unlimited soft drinks and two alcoholic beverages per person for each leg of the journey. The food was surprisingly good, and every staff member we encountered was friendly, professional, and clearly passionate about what they do.
Our route took us from Anchorage to Seward and Talkeetna, with periodic returns to Anchorage. We spent two nights in Talkeetna and loved it. The excursions we booked through Alaska Railroad were fantastic and perfectly coordinated with our travel schedule. They truly excel at helping guests customize their adventures.
We did encounter one small hiccup when weather prevented us from completing part of a glacier plane landing excursion. Initially, the refund didn’t appear on our credit card statement, but after one quick call to Alaska Railroad, they contacted the excursion provider and the refund was processed within four hours. That level of responsiveness really impressed us.
Overall, this is truly an A+ operation. The scenery was breathtaking, the service outstanding, and the whole trip felt seamless. I would highly recommend Alaska Railroad to anyone looking to experience the magic of Alaska in comfort and style.
