Bell in Dittisham better located on the pontoon.

点评：An enjoyable day out, have done it before. We live in Dawlish, and last time took the Totnes to Dartmouth Road. You turn left at the Spar Shop/ Garage, past Woodlands and down to the River Dart. But this time, we put our route into Waze and it took around the houses. Through Totnes and along the River Dart. A scenic route, but take our advice use the Totnes to Dartmouth Road. It's much easier.
Eventually, arrived at Dittisham. Medium-sized car park, with toilets nearby. The parking machine only takes coins, or pay by phone . We had neither, so never paid. Hope we don't get a parking ticket.
We followed a young family from the carpark. They exited the carpark through a track and followed the path along the estuary to the village. It is a bit muddy and slippery, so make you have sensible footwear. But in reality you can walk aross the park in front of the car park. That way you miss most of the mud.
When you arrive at the pontoon for the ferry, make sure you ring the bell to summon the ferry. It is generally moored at Greenway. We did, although the ferryman claimed he never heard it. To be honest, the bell would be better of located on the pontoon, not by the pub.
The ferryman was very helpful and jolly. £3.50 one way per adult. No return tickets. And card payment only, no cash. Very short trip, about 5 to 10 minutes? The boat has no cover, so it could be a problem in bad weather.
The Greenway mooring is a bit better established . With ample seating and a small cafe.
