Excellent insight into North East History
Great North Museum: Hancock的点评
点评：This excellent free museum is situated at the northern end of Newcastle city centre close within a short walk of Haymarket metro station. That said the walk from the station only takes around 25 minutes and showcases a lot of the city centre.
The museum itself is quite spacious and well set out and features a variety of different themes all mainly related to the North East in some way.
There’s a good collection of Natural History and also some more global exhibits including some interesting Egyptian and Greek artefacts. The museum also highlights the work of the university and other educational establishments locally.
There were quite a few interactive items to engage young children in particular which seemed well received.
There was an excellent display of the Roman History mainly based on Hadrians wall and is was nice to see that the local parts of the wall in the city suburbs were well promoted within this.
The cafe had a decent selection of drinks and snacks and was well enjoyed too.
This free attraction is well worth a visit and has something for all ages.
