点评:We have been wanting to visit this museum for several years. A visit by out-of-town friends gave us the opportunity.
This is on Onondaga Lake so good views of the park and lake from the center parking lot. There is a budget friendly entry fee. They do have restrooms and a small gift shop.
This museum uses signage and video screens to tell the history of the Indigenous People that formed the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and occupy the land from Onondaga Lake to Canandaigua Lake.
The story starts with Sky Mother who came to earth and progresses through the invasion of European settlers. Displays cover the Doctrine of Discovery, treaties, massacre and displacement of people and the use of Indian Schools to crush the culture. Yet we still have Haudenosaunee people in the New York.
Come to see and hear how native people have kept their stories and life in tack despite oppression.
Displays are somewhat interactive and will be of interest to all ages.
