2024-09-20: A perfect day on the Krossbu Glacier!

点评：8 o’clock we met Sveinung, our host and guide for today, at the Fossheim Hotel and drove to Krossbu. During the ride he told a lot of interesting things about the surroundings: buildings, nature, farms, waterfalls etc.
Packed with rope, ice-picks, helmets, harnesses, sunglasses etc. we walked to the start of the glacier. It’s approx. 1 hour walk and already there are lots of interesting things to see. Even a lemming running just in front of us!
At the glacier the preparation begins: putting up the equipment. And, of course, safety instructions. It’s a beautiful day with a clear blue sky and lots of sun!
We walked for several hours, there is so much to see and hear! Cracks in the ice, we can hear the ice moving, even streams of melting water, snow, and a deep hole where the melting water drops down for 20 meters!
Time to go back, take off the equipment and take the walk back to the parking area. Of course we are tired but we had such a wonderful day!
Not something we will soon forget but “a real memory of a lifetime!”. Thank you Sveinung for all the information, your guidance, your hospitality and for this wonderful day!
