点评：We had a wonderful morning out biking with Claudio, one of Sicily Bike Routes' excellent guides. He was super-enthusiastic and a very experienced cyclist. He was polite enough to tolerate our attempts to converse in our terrible Italian (which we always try to do, given that we were in Italy!). Over the morning, we covered around 50km on shiny new e-bikes, speeding along quiet country roads in beautiful early autumn scenery. The bikes performed like a dream and enabled us to cover a sizeable area of the territory around Pachino. ('Pachino' derives from the latin word 'Bacchus', the Roman god of wine, and the word 'vinum', which means wine - and the landscape certainly lived up to these origins, with vineyards and olives as far as the eye can see. This is 'Green Sicily', away from the crowds. During the morning, we also managed a visit to the Villa Romana di Tellaro, where we were impressed by the well preserved mosaics. We also popped into the Vendicari Nature Reserve to taste some excellent home grown produce at 'Busulmona' and a deliciously refreshing granita. After the final leg of our bike trip, it was time for lunch at 'Cantina a Cozzo del Parroco'. The hospitable and friendly owners, Antonio and Daniela, made us extremely welcome. We ate outdoors at a brightly decorated table under the trees, enjoying the peace and tranquillity of this beautiful place. All the food and wine was home grown and absolutely delicious. We bought some of their excellent olive oil, which we are still enjoying this back in Scotland, thinking of that unforgettable day. Thank you to all at 'Sicily Bike Tours' - and see you next time !
