点评:OK, first time visitor here. Wanted to do an honest review coming up from Maryland. First, the good: This place has tons of trails and a gondola. Highlights: taking the gondola up to the top of the Mount Mansfield and basically taking 6-7 blue trails down. I was so sore, but it was greatness. Also, stopping at the trick park off of Toll Road / Cutover Green and watching dudes do back flips and 720s. Super awesome. Finally - there's a fantastic green trail behind the Sunrise Lift called "Toll Road" that all new visitors should do right when they get to the resort.
Here's my not-so-good: The resort is so spread out you don't really know where to go first and it's so crowded with literally no guides that you have no clue where to go. One Epic Cashier lady told me to start over at "Spruce" which is their newer skiing area (seemed newer at least). Took my family 25 minutes to get over there and they were winded and pissed at me for the long trek on day one. I would have recommended starting on the Toll House Green on the main mountain first, then moving to the super high gondola ride, then doing Spruce runs on the last day. The other downside - I never got that feeling of being at a ski resort, crowded by awesome people drinking beers, with everyone having a jolly good time. Maybe I missed where this was all happening, but if you've been to the Foggy Goggle at Seven Springs, there was nothing like that at Stowe.
About the town of Stowe: There's no real grocery store or fast food options. Everything is niche and quaint. The markets are like convenience stores with wine and close at 7PM, so no late night ice cream for you! Also, the restaurants fill quickly, since there are so few, and you should book your reservations at least 24-48 hours in advance. We tried Piecasso and the place was a zoo.
One final thought: We passed Killington an hour before Stowe coming up from Maryland. Why I didn't just book Killington instead I don't know, but I think we'd opt for Killington next trip. It looked awesome and closer to MD. My kids grew up skiing Wisp (Maryland) and 7 Springs (PA), and they said both of those are more fun for them than Stowe.
