点评:My first visit here and I wasn’t sure quite what to expect. But spurred by some spring sunshine I pre booked online one Sunday afternoon.
Initially stopped by the meerkats to see the feeding going on. Always amusing but I could hear and see water which I was keen to explore.
Of course I was always going to do the full purple route. It was great and although signposted still felt a little like getting lost in the wilds. Especially when the ‘path’ requires you to pick your way over trees and boulders.
I did have a thought at one point that I hadn’t seen another human for about 45 mins, and should I trip / fall there would be no one to hear me cry for help. But hey … just don’t fall over … simples!
I loved the wildness of it and that you need to be responsible for your own safety. But at the same point kids, adults and dogs were leaping boulders, clambering over slippery logs, paddling and generally doing outdoorsy things. It made me happy, plus I got to take lots of photos.
I was later asked to compare Becky falls to nearby Canonteign (which I’ve visited many times and love).
They’re different. Canonteign is a sheer drop spectacle and a trek up - but it’s also a folly. Becky is simply water running over boulders - it’s beautiful in its own way. Plus there’s the animals for added entertainment.
