A great viewing point of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers confluence.

点评：This overlook at Harpers Ferry where the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers meet is definitely worth the stop as it has a lot to offer for a simple viewing point. First, from this spot you can see both rivers coming together. The view offers some great opportunities for excellent pictures. Second, behind you is the historic town of Harpers Ferry. Third, a few feet back from the overlook is a shady spot with several informational signs about the confluence. Fourth, to the right and down a set of stairs is the path to the water. Fifth, left and up the path is the walking path across the bridge. Along the viewing area there are plenty of informational signs that explain the history and geography. It is up the hill from the town proper and may be difficult for the mobility challenged since it is not a smooth road surface path to get to the viewing area. The view is not just of the rivers. You can see the supports for the old bridge and, if you time it right, some people tubing or rafting down the river. I think, it’s one of the highlights of the park and a great place to pause and take in the scenery.
