Great views of the city and beyond
华盛顿纪念碑的点评
点评：We booked our tickets in advance, however it was a bit confusing where we needed to go when we arrived. The main ticket office was closed as all tickets for the day had been sold but there was noting to tell us to head to the entrance; we just followed the crowd.
Once there again it was a bit confusing where to wait - we were told to sit on a bench, which we did but people who joined the queue/bench after us went in ahead of us (go figure!)
When we finally got to the entrance door, we were held for appx 5-10 mins waiting for security. The ranger here was very friendly and fun - he ran a quick quiz & was amazed I knew the answer - even if I pronounced aluminium the English way not the American. :)
Security to enter the monument was even tighter than all the airports put together! There was a scanning machine where belts, shoes, watches had to come off & we got a lecture about using our phones here too.
Once we passed through here (and the thick metal door) the ranger for the lift was friendly and gave us information about the building & the statue in front of the lift. We waited for about 5 minutes to go to the observation deck. Once there it was finally great to see the landmarks clearly identified on a map in front of you and also a map on the wall above each window. I liked the compass points as they helped get your bearings & work out where things were in the city. There was absolutely no rush to get round or go down, although just as well because the viewing windows were tiny in comparison to the size of the monument. Some great views to be had, if the weather is kind.
