点评:I had visited Mount Gulian twice during the holidays to see the house decorated during Christmas but never during the summer months. It was nice to tour the house and grounds when things were in bloom.
What is also nice about visiting the house in the summer is that you get to tour the barn and the gardens and get a full understanding of life at the home when the family still lived here. It may have been an estate but it was still a working farm.
The house is a recreation of the original house that burned in the 1930’s. The furnishings are some of the originals that the family donated along with pieces of the period. There are several family portraits to admire.
The gardens were a real treat as they were in bloom and you got to see how the gardens may have looked at that time. They had been overgrown since the house was abandoned since it had burned.
The last part of the tour was the barn which had been moved here but was similar to the one the family once had on the estate. It is now used mostly for weddings.
It really is an interesting tour of a house that had been lived in for several generations.
