点评:This was our first long walk and it was a great choice. We spread it out over nine days which ended up being 10-12 miles a day. (West to East, Browness-on-Solway to Newcastle).
It was a perfect walk for us (Ages 61, 58. Moderate conditioning). Most days were relatively flat but in between Greenhead and Chester Fort the rolling hills created challenges but nothing insurmountable. When we did get to the top of a hill/crag, we were rewarded with beautiful views. (The beginning and ending points, Carlisle and Newcastle are suburban walks.)
Initially we tried to plan the adventure ourselves but ended up booking with professionals (Celtic Trails. They were great!) which simplified everything. Nice rooms were booked for us, bags were transferred to our next stop and meal suggestions were offered. As a result, we had a far more fun and relaxing time on the path.
We added to a few miles to the walk . At Bowness-on-Solway, we started a little bit west of town and touched the water of the Irish Sea/Solway Firth. When we made it to Walls End in Newcastle, we continued on to Tynemouth and touched the water of the North Sea. Not exactly "Coast to Coast" but close enough.
