点评：I wanted to share some highlights from our recent visit to Gillette Castle State Park, which was a fantastic end-of-summer adventure! We had an amazing time exploring the castle and its surroundings.
First, a little pro tip: make sure to book your tickets online if you want to tour inside the castle. It's also a good idea to arrive at least 15 minutes before your tour starts, as ours began promptly. The docent was informative, but the real stars were the guides stationed on each floor. We asked a lot of questions, and each guide had fascinating secrets to share about the castle. Hidden this and tricky that... As you can imagine, this castle has many intriguing mysteries, and you won't be disappointed by the tour.
After exploring the castle, we strolled around the grounds. While the trails weren't as well marked as we had hoped, we still had a lovely time. If we had more time, we could have enjoyed a true hiking experience.
Another pro tip for you: we took the Chester-Hadlyme Ferry and visited Chester, which is just across the river from the Gillette Castle. The view from the ferry is absolutely gorgeous, and the short ride saved us a lot of time compared to driving. It was only $6 per car on a Sunday. In Chester, we were able to enjoy the local market, try some delicious ice cream, and listen to live music.
