Fabulous gardens - well worth a visit but limited disabled access!

点评：Beautiful gardens in a stunning setting but disabled access is an issue.
We had a friend with mobility issues who doesn’t yet have to use a wheelchair and she struggled here. The other 3 of us loved the gardens - they are so well kept but she had to miss out.
There is a disabled car park next to the house and for a lot of people this will be sufficient as it saves you from the long walk downhill to the castle. However the gardens are on the far side of the castle and that was too long a walk for my friend from the parking - we couldn’t get her any closer.
She decided to go into the tea rooms, which were closer, but there was an uphill slope to get in and that was hard for her. The gift shop could only be accessed by 4 large steps and the only route from the gift shop to the tea rooms was 4 steps down and 5 steps back up. There are no wheelchairs available to borrow or hire and provision of scooters, like you get at other attractions, would have been appreciated.
