点评:Unfortunately the locks were closed and the place felt unloved on the day we visited. The boats cannot move through the locks due to low water levels, which is understandable, but no effort had been made to open other key parts of the site. We arrived for 11.00 on a Thursday but the mini museum at the top, the second-hand bookshop and some of the toilets were closed. There was no toilet paper or soap in the ladies toilets at the top and only 1 toilet available for women at the bottom. It looks neglected and felt a bit unsafe in places. It was a far cry from a visit I had made around 3 years ago when the place was fully open and buzzing with activities, friendly staff and at that time it looked pristine. We didn't stay long for this visit and even though we had brought change with us for the car park machines at the top we couldn't get them to work. There was no signal to pay by phone and even though I searched for someone to assist, no staff were available. You are supposed to pay on departure but coins wouldn't go in and they do not accept cards. I eventually paid at the bottom car park (a different price) and I'm just hoping I don't get a fine. Hopefully, this place can turn itself around again and I hope the canal organisation that runs it can start to put staff in place when people need help or advice.
