The Best Views in Natchez and My Favorite Place in the City

点评：Natchez is known for its incredible houses which you come here to see. However, one of the best places to visit during your stay is Bluff Park as it has the best views in the city. The reason Natchez is where it is and thrived where it is, is the bluff overlooking the Mississippi that that the town is perched on. This has kept the town safe from the devastating fluctuations of the river, and it has also provided it with some of the best views over the river in the Lower Mississippi Valley.
I had the chance to visit the park twice during our stay in the morning a short walk from our hotel at the Natchez Hampton Inn. Morning is a great time to visit with the best sun angles for your view from the bluff. The other good thing about the morning is you really have the park to yourself with a few other walkers. I will say I never saw the park too crowded even with a mini-fair on the north end. The park is totally free and a great place to get out and get some exercise.
The great thing about the park is it has sidewalk throughout the park so you can really walk where you feel comfortable. However, if you like a view the sidewalk along the edge provides amazing views of the Mississippi River looking north and south, up and down it, as well as west looking across it to Louisiana. Plus, the bridge is a beautiful backdrop, and I also got to see paddleboats on the river.
Again, the houses are great and that is what brings you to Natchez. However, once here, this may have been my favorite thing to do.
