Nice Paddling on the West Coast

点评：Compared to the East Coast, California seems replete with towns high on a cliff overlooking the ocean. The views are dramatic and the climate feels more temperate. Trinidad is a very scenic town where lucky ( and probably wealthy ) homeowners can enjoy amazing views of the ocean.
Kayak Trinidad offers customers the opportunity to paddle along a relatively sheltered bay, and, weather permitting take a brief excursion along the broader ocean. The company provided full wetsuits, which was the first time we had worn such outfits. They kept us very dry, but you can’t wear very much underneath them. The company advised wearing long underwear, but we were plenty hot enough with just swimsuits.
As we paddled around the cliff the guide pointed out the subtle differences in shellfish we were observing, and gave a bit of history of the area. One of our party wound up needing to go back and our guide did a very fine job of making sure he returned to shore and rejoining the group. He might have been travelling at a furious clip to do so, but I’m the kind of person who is happy to just be on the water and take in the experience.
The company also warned against bringing cameras, which is understandable given the risk of losing them, and that briefly scared me off. However, I took my chances and brought along the phone. As a result, I was able to get some very good pictures of sea lions who were looking on. Overall, the trip was a couple of hours and worth the money.
