Catching the ferry to Watsons Bay & Exploring South Head...

点评：For tourists, catching the ferry from Circular Quay to Watsons Bay and exploring South Head is one of the very lovely things to do in Sydney.
There’s a lot to do here - dramatic lookout points, harbour beaches, an historic lighthouse, easy walking trails, a waterfront pub and plenty of options for fish and chips.
You can probably pack it all into half a day but you could easily spend a full day if you want a more relaxing, pleasant pace.
The best look-out point here is ‘the Gap’. From the top of near-vertical ocean cliffs, we had breathtaking views across the Tasman Sea. A boarded walkway along the clifftop allows you to spend a bit of time here just taking in the spectacular views from several angles.
There is a small beach beside the ferry but I’d recommend walking a little but further around to Camp Cove Beach which is much, much prettier. I think it’s one of the prettiest harbour beaches.
Camp Cove can get crowded and it's definitely hard to find a car park around here but if you have caught the ferry, it’s an easy and very short walk.
The South Head Heritage Walking Trail also starts from Camp Cove. This is also a 1.7km looped trail which takes you past some very scenic lookout points and some historic military relics and old cannons. About halfway along, we passed the old lighthouse keeper’s cottage and the Hornby Lighthouse which was built in the 1858 after a series of tragic shipwrecks. Perched on the edge of the headland, its distinctive, candy-like red and white stripes make it look like something out of a kid’s story-book.
