点评:This museum is everything a history museum should be with a focus on the history of this part of Georgia. When people hear Augusta, I would imagine that the Masters tournament comes to mind. That is featured in a video and in a hall with the history of golf and a few of the famous golfers. The Medical College of Georgia is also a feature in another room of the museum and it is a large medical center.
When you visit you will also learn about a huge fire that occurred in the early years of the 20th century which destroyed many buildings though no lives were lost. The fabric mills and a Peter boat are also part of the history of Augusta. There is an area with a history of the entertainer, James Brown. You can even listen to some of his songs.
Of additional interest you can see a cotton gin, an early fire truck, a steam locomotive, a street trolley and an early gas station.
The museum fills two floors and there is an elevator or stairs to reach the upper level. There is adequate parking near the museum and rest rooms. There is no gift shop though a few items are for sale near the front desk.
