Outstanding Art Museum That Offers Free Admission

点评：MIA is an outstanding art museum that wonderfully offers free admission. It is a large collection featuring artwork from all periods and from all over the world. The 3rd floor displays European Art from 1200-1600 and European and American Art from 1600-1900. You will also find Modern and Contemporary galleries on this level and the 3rd floor is also where the fascinating period rooms are found. The 2nd floor is mostly dedicated to an impressive collection of art from Asia and also displays art from Africa and from the ancient world. There are also special exhibits on display but sometimes these require a purchase of a ticket. You can easily spend the entire day wandering throughout the museum but given that it is free to enter, your visit could be shorter and more focused. If it is your first visit and your time is limited, I would allow 2-3 hours to appreciate what is inside. There is a paid parking ramp costing $12 and a surface lot (although temporarily closed) charging the same although we were able to find free street parking if you don't mind walking 5-10 minutes. The museum is open from 10am-5pm although until 9pm on Thursdays and closed on Mondays.
