点评:As you may know, many of the gardens here are those that Geoff Hamilton designed and built when he presented Gardeners World on TV. As we wandered around we could recognise many of them and remember him building and caring for them.
It's a big thing for somwone to take on the ongoing care of these gardens, especially as people can remember how they looked when new. There were a few gardens that had had some attention recently and looked good. Many, though, didn't look as though they'd had some attention for some time.
There were some plots that were obviously well cared for - the large vegetable and fruit beds for example, but mainly they weren't up to the standard we were looking for.
I wouldn't make this sort of comment, for instance, at "Open Gardens" garden visits but these are offered as Show Gardens and should be at a certain standard at all times of the year. I realise that takes a lot of time and effort but its a requirement of showing them.
It was good to wander around them and remember but they didn't inspire as the should have done.
