点评:Began the day here with a trolley and boat ride of one canal which was worth the extra $10 for seniors! After a quick lunch from a sidewalk cafe, took a short walk to an 1840s Boarding House where the mill workers were housed. Next door to the Boarding House is the Boott Cotton Mills Museum complete with a large open floor full of looms, several of which were in operation making cloth! This was very interesting and loud, although ear plugs apparently were available - inquire. There is a small entry fee which contributes to the maintenance of the antique machinery. On the 2nd floor is the most extensive display of all the machinery needed to transform the raw cotton crop into various patterns of cotton cloth. The crowd was very light on this Thursday July 7th and the Ranger staff couldn't have been more helpful and enthusiastic throughout all of the three buildings we toured! Adjacent Parking is free with a Visitor Center authorization stamp and is easy to access via Dutton Street from the Lowell Connector off I-495. Would highly recommend to all as the numerous displays and two short films bring to life the story of this unique planned industry and its hard workers! The Visitor Center building alone is very informative and I would say is easily wheel chair accessible from the adjacent parking garage.
