Unbelievable to think we were walking on the same stones as the Romans almost 2,000 years before
Decumano di Aratria Galla的点评
点评:This section of Roman Road, that appears to stretch about 100 metres, is next to some of the Roman Forum ruins that are on the opposite side of the current modern main road (through Aquileia) to the main Forum ruins with the columns. The Roman road is at a right angle (runs east to west) to the current modern main road so it is reasonable to assume that the current road sits on top of a section of the Roman road. This section of road was only discovered in the 1970's.
Entry is free and there is a viewing platform and steps down to the Roman road. Unbelievable feeling to be walking on the same stones as people 2,000 years ago.
It is believed that the Road ran past the Forum and connected to the River Port. According to inscriptions found, the road was funded through the generosity of a woman, Aratria Galia, hence the name of the road.
