点评：I’m solely writing this review to shame a school and their chaperones for the awful experience I had hiking the diamond head crest trail. It was a gorgeous hike, many places to stop off and take a rest and take pictures. The summit was breathtaking. Lots of other hikers, but that was so be expected. On the hike back down there was some kind of a school field trip happening where the students were singing the “99 bottles of beer on the wall” song over and over and over. They did not relent. I thought my brain was going to explode. It was so distracting and obnoxious that my experience was sufficiently ruined and it’s still all I can think about. I can still hear the song. At one point we paused to let them pass us and I asked them politely to stop and they did not. Down the switchback was one of their chaperones who dominantly stated “It’s okay, they’re with me.” I don’t know why he thought that was important to say. Maybe he was the king of diamond head. When I explained my unease he then encouraged the kids to sing LOUDER. It’s been almost 12 hours and I can still hear it playing in my head. Many people save up money over the course of months to afford a trip to Honolulu and want to take a scenic relaxing hike, but that was stolen away from us and many other patrons who just wanted to enjoy nature. And instead we got an unsolicited concert from a parade of bratty teens and their overconfident body guard. Please do the hike, it is stunning. But please also remember to think of the hundreds of others along the ride with you. My general distain for children has been refreshed and renewed today.
