Pop-up Book Sellers of Paris

点评：These pop-up book stalls are one of Paris’ quirkier, more unusual sights. These large, green boxes (there are around 900 of them) sit along the walls of the Seine River.
By night they are closed up and there’s nothing to be seen. If you didn’t already know what they were, you’d be scratching your head wondering what was inside them.
By day, the top flips up, the sides fold out, and they magically unfold to become small stalls, selling second-hand and antique books, postcards and posters.
It is fun to wander past and have a rummage. Not surprisingly, most books are in French so I spent my time looking through the posters and prints from old book illustrations. Most stalls organise these into themes in large plastic books that you can flip through so if like me, you want to look at maps and botanical prints, it's easy to find them.
Keep in mind that if it's raining, they won't be open. Rain was threatening as we walked past and as the first spits of rain came, the book-sellers flew into action and started shutting up shop very quickly. Within minutes, everything had disappeared back into its box.
