点评:It was my first time here and I stopped by because I was in the neighborhood.
I wished I had chosen a better day to visit.
First, the exhibitions are minimal because of current renovations: only one gallery is open, which featured Red Canary Song.
The show was interesting and often sobering, timely work that kept me intersted despite the limited gallery access.
There was also a single installation on view, James Turrell’s Meeting, a quiet and calm piece that provided a contemplative space to the gallery exhibition.
Art appears throughout the building — on walls and stairwells — which makes wandering around the three floors fun, like an art hunt.
The gift shop is larger than expected and worth a look. The cafe was closed. Bathrooms on each floor.
It wasn't busy when I stopped by; a few people in and out.
Admission being free for MoMA members and NYC residents was appreciated and made the visit very accessible. Staff friendly and polite.
Lousy timing for a visit but I'll be back.
