点评:My wife and I were traveling through Virginia from South to North and making stops at historical locations along the way. On Monday & Tuesday, May 27-28, 2025, we stopped here. This was the best place to stop in all of Virginia. This is possibly the most significant historic locations of all points from the Civil War. The building are all meticulously restored, detailed information is available in the visitor center as well as in many of the buildings you are allowed to walk through. On the 2nd floor of the visitor center you should begin your visit by watching a very informative video which will help you to understand this place as you walk around. Many buildings contain original artifacts and period items. While walking about here, one can almost visualize the battle that took place. The McLean house where the peace agreement was signed by General Grant and General Lee is open and displayed as it was on that day April 18, 1865. You can also the hiking trails around this village and there are several designated sites along the highway as well. This is a great stop for anyone wishing to learn more of how the end of the Civil War came about as well as the tragedies that occurred.
